How to Make a Homemade Face Scrub for Soft, Youthful Glowing Skin

Exfoliating the face is a vital part of a woman's beauty. If you practice a regimen of proper exfoliation you will find that it removes the barrier of dead skin cells clogging the skin and uncovers fresh new cells below. Utilizing natural ways of making your own face scrubs is beneficial to your skin. The dead skin cells you are intending to remove by exfoliating do not need to be exposed to chemical-based products, especially if you suffer from acne. Chemical-based products are known for irritating acne and causing more skin irritation.
Exfoliating on a regular schedule is essential because it gets rid of old dry dead cells leaving the skin much smoother, younger-looking, and glowing. I hesitate to put chemical-laden products on my face. Making homemade beauty scrubs and masks is something I enjoy doing. It provides me with a connection to nature more and I appreciate things that are grown like lemons, sugar cane, and things such as raw honey which is produced by the bees. Exfoliating the face also opens the deep pores of your skin up to receive proper moisturizing.
Exfoliate Face
Think of exfoliating the dead skin cells as a reference to cleaning and weeding out the garden. If you have weeds in your garden never cleaning them then the good plants cannot grow properly. The pile-up of old skin and debris also blocks the pores, spurring acne, other blemishes, and a dull skin tone in some individuals. Without removing these pile-ups of dead skin the new skin is not able to rejuvenate. If your looking for a face scrub that targets pores smoothes skin, improves the look of lines and more to reveal fresh, new skin look into this beauty solution.
Exfoliating the skin twice a week is necessary. If you begin taking care of your skin at a young age you will be rewarded as you grow old by better-looking skin. Your skin loves to be nurtured and cared for consistently by you. I suffered from acne when I was younger. I tried Proactive but found that if I missed using it my acne increased. I began searching for natural alternatives to use on my face.
Exfoliating also helps get the blood circulation in your face flowing. Around the age between 30 to 40 your pores may appear to be getting larger. What happens as you get older is your pores collect more dead skin depth and pore appearance seems larger. The dead skin cells have to collect somewhere until you remove them, therefore dead skin cells collect inside pores. Your pores will not be as noticeable or large if you remain on a beauty skin schedule. Your beauty skincare schedule should include applying moisturizer also right after exfoliating and twice a day at the minimum.
There were solutions to my acne and skin problems right in the kitchen cupboard. This facial scrub provides manual microdermabrasion that buffs away dullness with natural raw sugar grains. Weekly exfoliation removes dullness and smoothens rough skin revealing firm and youthful looking skin, with soft natural scrub from these 6 ingredients. For the face, mix sugar, honey, cinnamon, turmeric, and a few drops of lemon juice to hydrate, clarify and reveal softer skin.
Ayasha Facial Scrub
  • 5 tablespoons of pure raws sugar cane
  • 1 tablespoon of raw honey
  • 1/2 tsp of cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp of turmeric
  • 1 lemon wedge
  • Approximately 1 tsp of water (add last in small amount to obtained desired thickness)
Mix the above ingredients until it forms a paste-like substance. Do a patch test on your hand. If the skin is not irritated by this scrub then proceed. Apply to fingertips and exfoliate with small circles into the skin. Avoid the eye area.  Rinse with warm water after leaving on for 10 to 15 minutes. Avoid using excessively warm water as it can be drying to the skin. Follow with a cool rinse to close the pores back up. Us this exfoliate twice a week for the best results.
Raw Sugar (cane sugar) helps hydrate the skin and keep moisture in. Glycolic acid naturally present in raw sugar (cane sugar) removes dead skin cells, dirt, and oil that can clog and stretch pores. This makes sugarcane an excellent ingredient in exfoliants and masks. Sugar’s round granule has no sharp edges so it is gentler than salt. The smaller, finer granules, make a gentle exfoliant that is suitable for most skin types. Sugar encourages your skin cells to turn over and rejuvenate the skin into more radiant youthful looking skin. Raw sugar is what I prefer to use, it is more coarse and exfoliates from deep within. I also find it helps to prevent blackheads from returning. The gentle raw sugar abrasion removes dry, dead skin cells and clears up clogged pores. A scrub made of sugar cleans and removes dead/damaged skin and helps to prevent acne, blackheads, whiteheads, breakouts and skin blemishes.
Honey is medicine. For centuries, the Native American people of the Ojibwa tribe have used honey for medicine. In many other cultures throughout the times, others have and still use it also as a medicinal treatment. Raw honey is what people commonly used to eat before the food industry started processing foods and filling them with preservatives. Raw honey is the healing form of honey. Honey is used for killing infection and bacteria. The sugar contents in honey dehydrate bacteria. There are enzymes in honey that create a small amount of hydrogen peroxide, enough to help combat acne. Honey provides nutrients to new tissue that is growing as your skin heals while reducing swelling. Personally, I found that the honey has helped my scars to minimize. Even with all its antibacterial properties, honey can contain a few bacteria. Although most people I have known never had a problem with this face scrub or the use of honey, I suggest testing on your skin first before applying on the entire skin. I also suggest using a face steamer at the minimum twice a week. Click here to see face steamer.

Cinnamon and honey combined kill the bacteria that contribute to inflamed pores. Cinnamon blends thoroughly into the honey helping it to create a pasty scrub. Cinnamon has antimicrobial properties as well as wound-healing properties. I feel it has helped me with healing acne scars that I use to have. It does not heal each scar but it helps to minimize them and heal some. Cinnamon is good for oily skin because it regulates the oil production on the face which helps to keep acne at a minimum. The little lines that get more noticed as you get older are something that cinnamon helps to improve by plumping the skin. Cinnamon has been known for centuries by the Native Americans for its ability to help heal wounds because of the antiseptic properties. Dry and itchy skin can be a problem for many women also. This is where the cinnamon can help as it is known for taking away itchy skin issue and prevent skin from drying out further.
The little miracle component found in this scrub is turmeric. Turmeric is extremely beneficial to combatting acne by reducing acne and reducing the scars. The anti-inflammatory qualities can target your pores and calm the skin. This is why it's suggested to leave the exfoliating scrub on for 10 to 15 minutes before rinsing off. This will enable to turmeric to penetrate deep within the skin pores maximizing the effects of reducing acne. Your acne breakouts will reduce when using this homemade face scrub on a regular basis. Turmeric has the abilities also to help with psoriasis. I advise you to test a little turmeric mix with water into a paste on a spot on your forearm. Wait 24 hours to see how your skin reacted to the turmeric before applying the scrub to your face. If you’re allergic to the turmeric spice in food, do not use it on your face or skin. When applied to the skin, turmeric can temporarily stain the skin or leave a yellow residue. This is normal. But if you’re allergic, direct skin contact can cause irritation, redness, and swelling. Turmeric is also an anti-inflammatory.
My daughter who is her 20's has been using this homemade face scrub also did a comparison with a commercial brand face scrub. She found that the commercial face scrub seemed to have not exfoliated thoroughly, irritated the skin more, dull, and left dry blotchy areas which resulted in rougher skin. While the homemade face scrub seems to leave her skin feeling more exfoliated, smooth, more refreshed, glowing and helps to prevent wrinkles.
Proper skin care is important because our beauty is everything to a woman. Covering up the face with layers of makeup without proper skin care is the worst thing you can do to your face. No matter what age you are it's never too late to start a skincare regimen. I advise you to begin taking care of your face now and continue throughout your life if you want radiant skin.
Making the skin feel refreshed with exfoliating on a regular basis is important to a woman's beauty. Using the most natural face scrubs is highly recommended. Following up by using the right kind of moisturizer for your skin can help maintain its balance, heal acne scars, and look more radiant. If your skin is not properly balanced, with uneven dry spots, acne breakouts, and blemishes then you are not properly exfoliating and moisturizing. Avoid making your face look more dull and flaky while preventing breakouts by moisturizing twice a day.
Making organic choices from the inside out is something that my brand Ayasha stands by. For Ayasha, embracing every aspect of her Native American cultural traditions and sharing them with consumers is essential to Empowering Cultural Connection between her culture and others. For each plant or food that is a medicine Native Americans use, Ayasha shares.
